Ein Gev

Travel template

Not only is the Sea of Galilee – or Lake Kinneret -well traveled because of its historical and religious places of interest,

but the region draws visitors due to the fact it’s one of the most beautiful in the whole of Israel.

One of the most picturesque places to see is the Ein Gev which his located on the lake’s eastern shore.

Kibbutz Ein Gev is a tourist hotspot sandwiched between the hills of the Golan and the lake, and it was founded in 1937 by Austrian, German and Czechoslovakian refugees.

The kibbutz features an auditorium which can fit 5000 people, which plays host to an annual music festival with some of the world’s most famous musicians having played here.

The hillside surrounding the Kibbutz is full of vineyards, a banana plantation and a date grove, while fishing also plays a large part in kibbutz life.

Ein Gev is also famous for having the largest restaurant in the country serving fish fresh from the Sea of Galilee.

Visitors can also stay at the kibbutz – courtesy of the Ein Gev Resort Village. The Village has its own private beach, and is easily accessible for other Kinneret attractions including the Jordan Valley, Golan Heights and Upper Galilee.

Ein Gev is the perfect place from which to enjoy water based activities.

Ein Gev Harbor features a lakeside promenade which overlooks the Sea of Galilee, as well as the House of Anchors Museum and Grampa Saba Yossi’s workshop. Visitors can take advantage of the many tours and cruises which depart from here, as well as enjoy the great fishing.
